Portrait of my friend Catherine with a protective mask. Catherine is an architect and teaches architecture at the academy in Ghent.
Part of my Corona series, painted during C19 lockdown, which we are still under here, although with a little less restrictions now in June. Masks are mandatory here though, whenever we go out the door. Hope you are doing fine and in good health, my friends?
Christel.
I`m a Belgian painter from the beautiful city of Ghent in Flanders. I have a great love of portraits; trying to capture the moment and the feeling in the subject`s eyes. My work focuses on the human form; faces and nudes. I'm inspired by all things beautiful and often by books, music and films. Thanks for your visit here! Christel. (All rights reserved. Linda Lees
Wonderful portrait Christel! You have created a look of anxiety in Catherine's eyes, a feeling that many around the world are experiencing due to this virus. While we're wishing Happy Wednesday, I'll wish you a Happy Wednesday from Australia. L/F
Christel Roelandt replied:
Thanks again, Linda! I think the anxiety is definitely there yes and I think it`s hers but also mine haha, which is often the case in portraits: the feeling is as much the sitter`s as the painter`s. Hope we can return to socializing soon. Meanwhile keep safe and have a good day! Christel.
Paul Lovering
